My 'Singleton' Guidelines
I am single. Having a romantic relationship at this point in my life is not a priority. Sometimes I do want a boyfriend. But I don't have the time to work on a relationship. My idea of dating is to only date someone you would want to marry. And since I don't want to marry right now, I am devoting most of my time to school. There are some people who say you need to live at home until you're married, etc. I don't believe that. My parents have raised me well. They have given me great values to live my life. In fact, I live in an apartment by myself about four hours away from home. However, I do still seek guidance from my parents when making important decisions.

We all know that we should be abstinate from sexual activity until marriage. I am very proud of the fact that I have not participated in any kind of sexual activity. Is it harder because I am away from school and live alone? No. I guess it could be, but the fact is I stay away from situations that would cause temptation. This is what has worked for me:

Limit alcohol fueled activities. I can not say I abstain from all alcohol activities because that would be a lie. But I do try my best to be safe when I drink. I drink with close friends that I know and trust, and I never drink with strangers. I avoid being drunk at large groups or parties, and if I do go to a party I stay with my group of friends.

I have a modest attitude. I believe a modest attitude is more important that modest dress (although that is important). We all know girls who wear decent clothes and still are overly flirtatious/sexual. I am around guys all the time. I have study groups with guys, etc. But I carry an attitude that clearly lets guys know: I am not interested in anything but the task at hand. I am nice but I don't give off false hope.

I guard my words. Is it just me or has every conversation revolved around sex for like the past decade!! I don't talk about sex, bodies, etc in mixed company. Call me prudish, but I fail to see why women complain that men only see them as sex objects; yet they allow- and participate in- such lewd conversations.

I protect my reputation. You know the saying: "Sleep with dogs, you wake up with fleas"? Well I really am careful with who I choose for my friends. In my opinion a suitable friend is someone who I wouldn't mind bringing home to Thanksgiving dinner. I believe that my reputation is important. How many times have you met someone new and they say "oh I heard about you from so and so." Well what if so and so saw you walking out of a different boys room every night?! When guys date 'certain' girls, they only want 'certain things'. Also, your future employer, husband, preacher WHOEVER can hear about you long before they meet you. You can make sure that what they hear is good!

These are just a few guidelines that I keep to maintain my purity. I'm not saying you have to perfect (I am not!). But we should all be proactive in keeping our purity in a world that is so impure.

Interesting new project!
I love frugal living. Actually, I strive to live a life of simplicity. In my opinion simplicity and frugality are different things. Frugality is buying all the shirts in a thrift store because they are a great deal, simplicity is buying no shirts-despite the great price- because you already have what you need. However I think frugality plays a major part in simplicity, when you do need a shirt, it makes no sense to pay $50, when you can get a comparable item for $10.

So, I have been researching these topics A LOT and I am planning an online course, that I will offer to my blog readers. The course is going to be free and I'm very excited about it.

The annoying blog quizzes part 2
I always liked Ballykissangel
You Belong in Dublin

Friendly and down to earth, you want to enjoy Europe without snobbery or pretensions.
You're the perfect person to go wild on a pub crawl... or enjoy a quiet bike ride through the old part of town.

The classiness in me says 'Thank Goodness'; the southern belle in me screams 'YANKEE??'
You Are 20% Redneck

I'll slap you so hard, your clothes will be outta style.
You ain't no redneck - you're all Yankee!
Ugh! I HATE Mountain Dew
You Are Mountain Dew

Ultra hyper and full of energy, you're on a permanent sugar high.
Some people complain about your taste, but the do appreciate your power.

Your best soda match: Coke

Stay away from: Root Beer
You Are Most Like George W. Bush

So what if you're not exactly popular? You still rule the free world.
And while you may be quite conservative now, you knew how to party back in the day!

Interesting.....
Your 1950s Name is:

Yvonne Virginia

All quizzes were from blogthings.com

Oh Wow
I (barely) passed this 8th grade math quiz.

You Passed 8th Grade Math

Congratulations, you got 8/10 correct!

Lonely
At times I feel very lonely. Sometimes I feel like I have no one to relate to in real life. I was very thankful to find the blogs that I enjoy to read. These women (see my list of blog links) are very strong in their faith and I love the frugality and homekeeping tips as well. However I don't fully connect with these women either. I don't have a husband or children. And it is hard to find a blog by a woman that supports women having a career or going to college before starting a family.

Does anyone else feel this way? In real life, I am the 'odd' friend. I don't date because on a college campus, dating equals sex after a frat party and never speaking again. And honestly, right now my focus is on finishing college and starting a career. When I get married and have children, I don't want to work. Personally, I don't feel being a stay at home daughter is that great of an idea. My mom keeps her home and while she uses my help (when I visit from school) there isn't enough for me to do.

Do any of my readers ( if I have any :), know of any books or blogs that would fit me? Thanks!

Birthday!
Tomorrow is my birthday. I am so thankful that the Lord has let me live on another year! However I think I have the birthday blues. I joke that I am having a pre-quarter life crises. It's time for me to look into graduate schools and I have no idea where I want to go study or which programs (there are so many!!) I want to look into further. I'm starting a new exciting time in my life, but at the same time I am really scared.

No More Sweet Tooth

I have a HUGE sweet tooth. Sweet tea, 7-up cake, brownies, sugar straight from the pack, it doesn't matter. If it is sweet...I HAVE to have it. I have decided to completely stop eating sweets. It totally defeats the fact that I make sure I wake up at 5 am to work out, if I just eat those calories in sweets. Not to mention the fact that I can just pig out on sweets, which is just greedy. Also diabetes run in my family, so I should do anything to help myself eat healthier.

Note, I am not giving up carbs or anything, just sweets. I heard that if you stop eating/doing something for 3 weeks; you no longer crave it anymore. So that's what I plan on doing. Please pray for me on this!

If you would like to join in, please leave a comment. Maybe it's not sweets you have to give up but something else like: sleeping in, not washing the dishes at night, etc.

Helpful or Harmful?

Our world has received many benefits from the World Wide Web. Thanks to the internet, our physical locations no longer prohibit us from meeting and befriending people who share our same beliefs, religion etc. Throughout the years I have found many blogs and message boards that I enjoy and learn from. However some message boards I find are often full of controversy. For example, many women go to such boards for advice and comfort. Yet, they are met with sneering replies. These replies indirectly indicate that the author believes they are better because: she doesn't do any housework on Sundays or does not work outside the home.

I understand wanting to help a woman be better in her faith, etc. But are our conversations with fellow sisters in Christ uplifting and helpful? Note, I am not saying we need to be tolerant of a person's sins. We shouldn't be tolerant of our sins. But, we should be willing to help anyone desiring to leave as Jesus asks us to. Therefore on behalf of all Christian women online, I ask that everyone guard their words and thoughts carefully. We're all familiar of What Would Jesus Do. Let us make sure our actions AND our words are reflective of the fact that we are Christian women.

Welcome to *Of Noble Character* blog

Hello! Welcome to my blog. I started this blog because I have received such encouragement from the many Christian women blogs online and decided to start my own! I got the title of my blog from Proverbs 31, which describes the Wife of Noble Character. While I am not a wife yet- I'm a junior in college and not even dating!- I really admire the arts of homemaking.I plan on having a career until I get married, and then I really want to be a stay at home mom. So my blog is going to be a hybrid of a mix of things!
